Rep. Mike Simpson, representing Idaho, recently voted in favor of the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2024, emphasizing the importance of supporting Idaho's agriculture sector. In a statement, Rep. Simpson expressed his dedication to advocating for Idaho's agricultural priorities, stating, "Agriculture represents 20% of Idaho’s economy, and I consider it my duty to champion important Idaho priorities to ensure our state’s farmers and ranchers can thrive now and in the future."

The legislation, which includes the Agriculture, Rural Development Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies Appropriations Bill, aims to preserve funding for farmers, ranchers, and rural communities across the nation. Within the bill, specific provisions were made to address Idaho's agricultural needs, such as protecting the U.S. Sheep Experiment Station in Dubois and providing funding for crucial agricultural research programs for commodities like wheat, barley, potatoes, and alfalfa.

Furthermore, the bill includes funding for key Idaho projects, including the Shelly Firth Fire Station and the Idaho Center for Agriculture, Food, and Environment (CAFE) site in Rupert. These initiatives highlight the commitment to supporting Idaho's agricultural industry and ensuring its continued success.

The Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2024 encompasses a bipartisan package of six annual spending bills, aligning with the Fiscal Responsibility Act discretionary spending limits and a previous topline spending agreement. The House of Representatives approved the measure with a vote of 339-85, followed by Senate approval with a vote of 75-22.

As Rep. Simpson continues to serve on the House Appropriations Committee, he reaffirms his dedication to advocating for Idaho and American agriculture. By actively championing Idaho's agricultural priorities, Rep. Simpson aims to secure a prosperous future for the state's farmers and ranchers.
