Cost of college went up for resident students at the College of Eastern Idaho

In-state tuition and fees rose 69.5 percent for 2018-19 at the College of Eastern Idaho, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Idaho residents paid $4,126 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $1,632 more than the $2,494 charged for 2017-18.

Non-resident students would have paid 50.8 percent more than residents this year, or $6,222. Non-resident tuition and fees were reduced 31.3 percent from $9,056 in 2017-18.

100 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Idaho residents.

Data shows 73 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 96 students received grants or scholarships totaling $402,294 and 41 students took out student loans totaling more than $239,005.

Including all undergraduates (1,288), 466 students used grants or scholarships totaling $1.9 million, and 294 students took out $2 million in federal student loans.
