U.S. Senator Mike Crapo from Idaho released a statement following the Senate's confirmation of Doug Burgum as Secretary of the U.S. Department of the Interior. The Senate confirmed Burgum with a vote tally of 79-18.

Crapo emphasized the significance of consulting with local and Tribal officials regarding conservation and economic needs, particularly in Idaho, which is home to diverse landscapes and five Native American Tribes. "Doug Burgum pledged to consult with local and tribal leaders on managing public lands, ensuring local, on-the-ground voices are heard," said Crapo.

The senator also highlighted the importance of natural resources for American energy independence and countering China's influence over critical minerals. Crapo stated that as President Trump's new "energy czar," Burgum understands that achieving energy independence is crucial for national security. He expressed confidence in Burgum's qualifications for his new role as Secretary of the Interior.
