The War Bonnet Round Up is seeking talented singers to perform the national anthem at Idaho’s Oldest Rodeo, which will take place at Sandy Downs in Idaho Falls from July 29 through Aug. 1, according to a June 2 announcement.

Each selected performer will sing “The Star-Spangled Banner” before the start of one night of the rodeo and receive a VIP experience for themselves and a guest on their performance evening. Idaho Falls Parks and Recreation Director PJ Holm said, “The national anthem holds immense significance at Idaho’s Oldest Rodeo, especially this year, on America’s 250th birthday. We aim to showcase the finest vocal talent eastern Idaho has to offer for this patriotic and momentous occasion.”

Singers of all ages are encouraged to apply by submitting a video of themselves performing the national anthem to [email protected] no later than Wednesday, July 1, 2026. Selected performers will be notified by Friday, July 10.

This year’s War Bonnet Round Up will feature competitors from the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association participating in events such as steer wrestling, team roping, saddle bronc riding, tie-down roping, bull riding, bareback riding, women’s barrel racing and breakaway roping. Approximately 450 professional cowboys and cowgirls are expected to compete during the event.

Tickets are available at www.warbonnetroundup.org, with prices starting at $22 for Thursday night and $27 for Friday and Saturday nights. Children ages three through ten can attend for $10 per night; ticket prices include parking. Reserved seats under the grandstand are also available in limited quantities.

To begin festivities ahead of the main event, organizers will host a free Teton Toyota Wild West Family Fest kickoff party on Wednesday, July 29 from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., featuring food vendors, drinks, activities and a mini rodeo experience suitable for all ages.
