IDAHO FALLS -- The Idaho Falls Zoo is open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., including holidays, and that means they are open on Memorial Day.

Here’s a look at some of the events and exciting new things happening at the zoo in May:

May 24 and 25: United Way’s STEAM Day at the Zoo - Thanks to the generous support of United Way of Idaho Falls & Bonneville County, over 1,500 area elementary students will visit the zoo to explore Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM) courtesy of several area businesses and organizations. This event is already SOLD OUT; unfortunately, no other reservations can be accepted at this time. If you are not on the schedule for the day, the zoo recommends planning your visit after 2:00 p.m. on these days or visiting on another day.

Meet a Penguin or Watch a Zookeeper Presentation - Penguin Interaction Programs (PIPs) are back and will be available on Saturdays and Sundays at 11:00 a.m. from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. The zookeepers will also provide free presentations daily. Starting May 27, the schedule will be posted at the zoo, on the zoo’s social media, and website. Also, Behind the Scenes Tours offer you an incredible, personalized experience at the zoo. Learn more and book your PIP or personal tour at https://www.idahofallsidaho.gov/801/Family-Programs.

There’s also a new addition to the zoo family. On May 19, the Bactrian camel Zasu gave birth to her fifth calf, a male who has been named Humphrey. While they are still in their off-habitat holding area for another couple of weeks, Humphrey can be seen staying close to mom in the camel run.

Admission to the Idaho Falls Zoo at Tautphaus Park is only $8 for adults (ages 13-61), $6.50 for seniors (62+), $5.00 for children (ages 3-12), and $0.50 for ages 2 and under.
