The United States House of Representatives has passed the Fiscal Year 2025 Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Appropriations Bill. Idaho Congressman Mike Simpson, Chairman of the House Interior and Environment Appropriations Subcommittee, voted in favor of the legislation. The bill aims to fully fund veterans’ health care programs and benefits, support military families, and strengthen national defense.

“Our nation made a promise to care for and support those who have courageously defended our freedoms,” said Rep. Simpson. “This legislation upholds that commitment by fully funding veterans’ health care programs, benefits, and all other veterans’ related programs. Since coming to Congress, supporting our veterans and advocating for the brave men and women in uniform has been one of my top priorities. I am proud to continue these efforts by supporting this bill and am pleased this measure has passed the House.”

Key provisions of the bill include:

- Full funding for veterans’ health care programs.

- Full funding for veterans’ benefits and VA programs.

- Protection of 2nd Amendment rights for veterans by preventing the VA from sending information to the FBI about veterans without a judge’s consent.

- Allocation of $40 million for constructing a Child Development Center at Mountain Home Air Force Base.

The FY25 Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies bill was approved with a vote of 209 to 197. The funding package will now advance to the Senate for further consideration.
