U.S. Senator Mike Crapo of Idaho, who serves as the Ranking Member of the Senate Finance Committee, commented on President-elect Donald Trump's recent announcement regarding Jim O’Neill. Trump intends to nominate O'Neill for the position of Deputy Secretary at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

Crapo emphasized the importance of a healthcare system that enhances care quality while reducing costs for consumers through flexibility, competition, and innovation. He stated, “American patients deserve a health care system that increases care quality and lowers consumer costs through flexibility, competition and innovation."

Crapo highlighted O'Neill's previous experience in both the private sector and at HHS. He noted that O'Neill has observed how "warped government incentives can hinder efforts to deliver effective care." Crapo expressed his anticipation to review O’Neill’s nomination.
