Idaho Congressman Mike Simpson has announced his committee assignments for the 119th Congress. Simpson will continue his role on the House Appropriations Committee, maintaining his position as Chairman of the House Interior and Environment Subcommittee. He will also serve on the House Energy and Water Development Subcommittee and the Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education Subcommittee.
“I am honored to continue to serve as Chairman of the House Interior and Environment Appropriations Subcommittee, and I thank Chairman Cole for his support,” said Rep. Simpson. “This chairmanship allows me to fight for Idahoans' interests and champion priorities vital to the West.”
Simpson emphasized his commitment to working with the Trump administration on legislation aimed at boosting American production, reducing energy costs, and safeguarding critical programs essential to states and local communities.
As Idaho's sole appropriator in Congress, Simpson expressed a unique opportunity to advocate for state priorities. He highlighted cooperation with other Idaho leaders like Senator Crapo, who chairs the Senate Finance Committee; Senator Risch, who leads the Senate Foreign Relations Committee; and Congressman Fulcher's roles in key committees.
“Congressman Mike Simpson's return as Chairman of the House Interior and Environment Subcommittee is a testament to his proven leadership and expertise,” said House Appropriations Committee Chairman Tom Cole. “His stewardship ensures thoughtful management of public lands.”
The subcommittees that Simpson serves on have jurisdiction over funding for various agencies crucial to Idaho such as the Department of Energy, Department of Labor, Forest Service, National Parks Service among others.
Senator Crapo continues as Chair of the Senate Finance Committee while also serving on several other significant committees including Banking, Housing & Urban Affairs.
Senator Risch chairs the Senate Foreign Relations Committee while holding memberships in committees related to energy resources and intelligence among others.
Congressman Fulcher participates actively in both Natural Resources as well as Energy & Commerce Committees having recently been appointed Vice Chair within one subcommittee focusing specifically upon commerce-related issues.
