Idaho Congressman Mike Simpson has announced the nomination of 26 students from Idaho to the United States Military Academies. Members of Congress have the opportunity each year to nominate candidates for four out of five service academies. Following these nominations, the academies assess the students' applications and make final decisions on their admission.
"Our nation’s military academies provide students with an excellent opportunity to serve our country while pursuing a higher education," stated Rep. Simpson. "It is one of my great honors every year to nominate Idaho students to have this experience and become the next generation of military leaders. Our servicemembers make significant sacrifices to protect our freedoms, and I applaud these students who yearn to defend our way of life."
The nominations for 2025 by Rep. Simpson include:
For the United States Air Force Academy: Max Agres from Pocatello; Niclas Bischoff-Jones, Marcus Breen, Kendo Gunter, Sihu Hwang, Elizabeth Miller, William Principi, Kenneth Safe from Boise; Abigail Coleman and Anthony Sanchez from Idaho Falls; Grady Klinger from Stanley; Ella Shaughnessy from Hailey; Ches Lee Webb from Ririe; Gillian Weber from Fairfield.
For the United States Military Academy: Max Agres from Pocatello; Benjamin Baker, Axel Byrum, Hayden Johnson, Cole States, Charles Tobler from Boise; Jacob Bryan and Roman Stonhill from Ammon; Lillian Drysdale and Modoc Earley from Idaho Falls and Montpelier respectively; Sihu Hwang and William Principi also nominated for other academies.
For the United States Naval Academy: Paul Anderson, Alexis Danes among others including those nominated for other academies such as Benjamin Baker and Jackson Balsmeier.
For the United States Merchant Marine Academy: Sihu Hwang, William Principi, Kenneth Safe all repeated nominees along with Roman Stonhill.
These nominations highlight potential future leaders committed to serving in various branches of the U.S. military.
