In Washington, D.C., U.S. Senator Mike Crapo of Idaho has reaffirmed his commitment to safeguarding the Second Amendment rights of Idahoans during the 119th Congress. Senator Crapo, a long-time advocate for gun rights, emphasized his dedication to preventing any encroachments on these constitutional protections.

"Those seeking to strip away Second Amendment rights have sought every creative way possible to advance their agenda through legislation, regulation and litigation," stated Crapo. "The majority of Americans are law-abiding citizens who own, possess, carry and use firearms in a lawful and peaceful fashion. Their right to do so is enshrined in our Constitution. That right must not be abridged while we seek to prevent violence perpetrated by criminals."

Senator Crapo's initiatives include leading the reintroduction of the Hearing Protection Act to reclassify suppressors as regular firearms and co-sponsoring the Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act. This act would allow individuals authorized to carry concealed firearms in their home state to do so in other states permitting the practice.

Additionally, Crapo supports Senator Jim Risch’s Sporting Firearms Access Act, which aims to limit restrictions by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearm and Explosives (ATF) on firearm model imports into the United States. He also backs the Fair Access to Banking Act, designed to prevent financial discrimination against constitutionally-protected industries like firearms manufacturers.

Further efforts include co-sponsoring the Financial Integrity and Regulation Management (FIRM) Act and joining legislation that prohibits federal agencies from banning lead ammunition or tackle on public lands without scientific support.

Crapo also co-sponsors Senator Risch’s No REGISTRY Act requiring ATF record deletions related to firearm transactions when businesses close. The ATF Transparency Act is another focus for Crapo, aimed at ensuring transparency in background checks and creating an appeals process for erroneous denials.

The FIND Act prohibiting federal contracts with companies discriminating against firearm industries receives Crapo's support as well. He also backs the Traveler’s Gun Rights Act facilitating handgun purchases for military spouses and those with non-fixed addresses based on their duty station or driver’s license P.O. Box.

Finally, Crapo has sent letters demanding ATF compliance with President Trump’s Executive Order supporting Second Amendment rights and expressed concerns about restrictions on firearms exports imposed by previous administration rules.
