U.S. Senator Mike Crapo (R-Idaho) released a statement following Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's address to a joint session of Congress on July 24, 2024.

"Prime Minister Netanyahu’s address to Congress today reinforced our continued need to support Israel’s right to defend itself against existential threats by Iranian-backed terrorists. Israel is a critical ally of the United States in an otherwise volatile region. We must continue to back efforts to bring every remaining hostage—especially American citizens—home and free from the barbaric captivity of Hamas and its allies. It is more important than ever that the United States support our allies and diplomatic partners."

Senator Crapo has consistently supported Israel, particularly since the October 7, 2023 attack by Hamas terrorists. His actions include:

- Introducing the Israel Security Assistance Support Act, which mandates the Biden Administration to send critical weapons to Israel.

- Signing a Senate Resolution condemning any action by the Biden Administration to withhold or restrict weapons for Israel.

- Co-sponsoring a bill to permanently ban U.S. funding to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).

- Joining colleagues in urging the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations (UN) to push for a resolution designating Iranian-backed Hamas as a terrorist organization.

- Supporting a unanimously-passed Senate Resolution calling for strengthened economic ties between the U.S. and Israel.

- Sending a letter to President Biden advocating for enforcement of current laws against Iran’s illicit oil trade through sanctions.

- Co-sponsoring the Revoke Iranian Funding Act, aimed at freezing $6 billion of Iranian funds held in Qatar and preventing their use in financing terrorist attacks against Israel or other nations.

- Co-sponsoring resolutions reiterating Israel’s right to self-defense and condemning interference in its sovereign electoral process by U.S. lawmakers.

- Co-sponsoring resolutions condemning rising antisemitism on college campuses nationwide.

- Supporting numerous legislative measures countering antisemitism and prohibiting federal financial assistance for students involved in unlawful pro-Hamas activities.
