U.S. Senator Jim Risch, a Republican from Idaho and ranking member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, has joined forces with Senators Mike Crapo, Joni Ernst, and the entire Senate Republican Conference to issue a resolution condemning Iran-backed Hamas. This action comes on the anniversary of the October 7 terrorist attacks that resulted in the deaths of dozens of Americans.

The resolution not only condemns Hamas but also supports Israel's right to defend itself and calls for the release of American hostages. The Senate Republicans are unified in their opposition to violent anti-Semitic protests and Hamas' use of rape as a weapon of war. They emphasize the need to prevent Hamas from regaining strength in the region to avoid a repeat of past violence.

Senator Risch stated, "Today, people across the world are remembering those lives lost and the hostages who remain in captivity in Gaza. Unfortunately, a year later, Iran-backed groups continue to threaten the safety and security of the Israeli people." He highlighted ongoing threats from groups like Hezbollah and Houthis firing rockets at Israel. Risch emphasized U.S. support for Israel and accountability for Iran and its proxies.

Senator Crapo recalled last year's attack: "Just as the sun began to rise one year ago, barbaric Hamas terrorists stormed into Israel and launched a widescale attack on thousands of innocent Israeli citizens." He reiterated his commitment to advocating for hostage release and supporting Israel against threats from Iran-backed terrorists.

Senator Ernst shared her experience from last year: "This time last year, I woke up in the Middle East to the unbearable news that Israel was under attack by Iran-backed terrorists." She underscored her efforts across various locations to hold accountable those responsible for terrorism funding while reaffirming support for Israel.

The text of this resolution is available online for public viewing.
