Access to affordable housing is a significant issue for Idaho residents, impacting both employees and employers throughout the state. In response, U.S. Senator Mike Crapo has initiated a housing survey aimed at gathering insights from various stakeholders, including homeowners, renters, insurance brokers, bankers, realtors, government officials, and general contractors. This feedback will guide Senator Crapo in identifying areas where legislative action might be necessary.
"A lack of affordable housing is the number one issue Idahoans raise with my staff and me in meetings across the State," Crapo stated. He added, "Idaho is far from alone in this nationwide challenge, but Idahoans can be a key part in piecing together the housing puzzle as I continue to work to find collaborative solutions to this issue. I invite any Idahoan to complete the survey and share as much detail as they are willing and able to provide."
The approach of the housing survey is based on Crapo's previous veterans' surveys conducted in 2014 and 2015, which led to the creation of legislation later signed into law. The survey is accessible via Crapo's official website or through a QR code provided on distributed flyers. Residents can obtain these flyers at any of Crapo’s Idaho regional offices.
Upon the survey's conclusion on May 31, 2025, the collected data will be compiled into a public report. The report will maintain participant anonymity and exclude any personally identifiable information.
Regional offices taking part in this initiative are located in Boise, Coeur d’Alene, Lewiston, Twin Falls, Pocatello, and Idaho Falls, providing additional access points for local residents.
