On May 10, 2024, U.S. Senator Mike Crapo (R-Idaho) and his colleagues introduced a Senate resolution condemning any action by the Biden Administration to withhold or restrict weapons for Israel. The resolution has been cosponsored by a total of 48 Republican senators.

Crapo emphasized the importance of supporting Israel in these challenging times. "It is more important than ever that the United States advocate for Israel’s right to defend itself from existential threats by hostile parties," he said. He expressed his disapproval of President Biden's actions, stating, "I condemn President Biden’s attempt to pacify antisemitic, or even pro-Hamas, sentiments in our country by threatening to withhold weapons for our staunchest ally. I will continue to support Israel and push back against the Administration’s misguided actions.”

The resolution encompasses several key points:

1. It condemns any decision by the Biden Administration to halt the shipment of U.S.-made ammunition and weapons to the State of Israel.

2. It demands that the Biden Administration continue to fulfill military aid requests from Israel in order to provide necessary weapons for defeating Hamas and defending against attacks from Iran and its proxies.

3. It reaffirms the significance of America's long history of providing military aid to Israel and expresses willingness to expedite delivery during times of crisis.

4. It upholds America's commitment to ensuring Israel's security and long-term prosperity.

Among those who have cosponsored this resolution are U.S. Senators Jim Risch (R-Idaho), Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina), Katie Britt (R-Alabama), Ted Budd (R-North Carolina), Susan Collins (R-Maine), Tom Cotton (R-Arkansas), Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), Roger Marshall (R-Kansas), Markwayne Mullin (R-Oklahoma), Marco Rubio (R-Florida), and John Thune (R-South Dakota), among others.

The full text of the resolution can be found here.
