Today, key members of the Idaho Congressional Delegation praised President Trump and Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem for their efforts to secure the southern border. In a letter, U.S. Senators Mike Crapo and Jim Risch along with Representatives Mike Simpson and Russ Fulcher acknowledged the achievements of the current administration in reducing illegal crossings and enhancing safety.
"Under your leadership, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has arrested over 14,000 convicted illegal criminals within the first 50 days, many of which were known cartel and gang members," stated the group. They added that the nation is "witnessing the lowest number of apprehensions at the southern border in over 15 years," and expressed optimism about the ongoing efforts to maintain border security.
The delegation underscored Idaho Governor Brad Little's contributions, noting the deployment of state law enforcement personnel to aid Texas and Arizona. Moreover, Idaho has initiated several measures to address issues stemming from the border, such as a drug interdiction unit and a fentanyl awareness campaign.
The members expressed their intention to support these federal efforts, emphasizing the need for continued collaboration to sustain border security improvements.
