U.S. Senators Mike Crapo, Jim Risch, and Representatives Mike Simpson, Russ Fulcher, have expressed support for President Trump and Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem in efforts to strengthen border security. The Idaho congressional delegation emphasized the effectiveness of recent measures in reducing crime related to illegal immigration.

As noted in their joint letter, the delegation praised the administration's leadership in achieving a significant number of arrests: "Under your leadership, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has arrested over 14,000 convicted illegal criminals within the first 50 days, many of which were known cartel and gang members." They further highlighted a decrease in border apprehensions, stating, "Our nation is witnessing the lowest number of apprehensions at the southern border in over 15 years, sending a clear message to dangerous criminals that they are no longer welcome to come into the U.S."

The letter also acknowledges Idaho's proactive measures under Governor Brad Little's leadership, outlining the state's efforts in deploying law enforcement to the southern border and addressing issues related to drug and human trafficking. This includes establishing a drug interdiction unit as well as initiatives in behavioral health and fentanyl awareness.

The Idaho delegation looks forward to continued collaboration with the Trump administration: "As members of the Idaho delegation, we look forward to working together to provide the resources you need to maintain this historic border security."
