U.S. Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Mike Crapo (R-Idaho) addressed a nomination hearing for David Johnson, who has been nominated to serve as the U.S. Department of the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA). The hearing took place in Washington, D.C.

Crapo underscored the impact of TIGTA’s audit and investigative activities on taxpayers, the IRS, and the national tax system. He expressed expectations for Johnson if confirmed: "You must remain independent and vigilant. You must be responsive and candid."
