U.S. Senator Mike Crapo from Idaho released a statement following the Senate's confirmation of Doug Collins as Secretary of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The Senate voted 77-23 in favor of Collins, who brings a combination of military service and political experience to the position.

Crapo emphasized the importance of having a leader at the VA who will "fight tirelessly to appropriately honor their service and administer the benefits owed to them by their sacrifices." He noted that Collins possesses the necessary skills to address complex issues and reduce bureaucratic hurdles for veterans.

"Doug Collins knows firsthand the issues veterans face," Crapo stated, adding that Collins would bring "empathy and kindness to meeting their needs." Additionally, Crapo mentioned Collins' commitment to making the VA more accessible so veterans won't require external assistance to navigate its systems.

Crapo concluded his remarks by congratulating Collins on his confirmation.
