U.S. Senate Finance Committee Chairman Mike Crapo recently addressed an executive session regarding the nomination of Jamieson Greer for the position of United States Trade Representative (USTR). During his prepared remarks, Crapo noted that while members could make statements during the session, a vote on Greer's nomination would be postponed until a time is confirmed off the Senate floor due to the absence of a colleague.
Crapo expressed confidence in Greer's qualifications and capabilities as demonstrated during his hearing. "Mr. Greer thoughtfully responded to all of the questions posed to him then and in subsequent questions for the record," Crapo stated. He emphasized Greer's experience and determination to advocate effectively for American farmers, ranchers, workers, and manufacturers.
Highlighting an important aspect of Greer's approach, Crapo mentioned that "he was very clear that he is committed to reporting to and consulting with Congress." Based on these factors, Crapo announced his intention to support Greer's nomination and encouraged bipartisan backing from his colleagues.
Following Crapo's remarks, Ranking Member Wyden was recognized for his comments.
