Idaho Congressman Mike Simpson has successfully secured $3.85 million for the Eagle Road Reconstruction Project in Fort Hall, Idaho. The funding was included in the Fiscal Year 2024 Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies Bill at his request through Community Project Funding (CPF).
In a statement, Rep. Simpson emphasized the importance of this project, stating, “Reconstructing Eagle Road will significantly increase the safety and quality of life for tribal residents on the Fort Hall Reservation.” He also expressed his pride in supporting the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes in their efforts to promote economic development and enhance community safety.
The Fort Hall Business Council expressed their gratitude for Rep. Simpson's support, stating, “The area is in drastic need of improvements to provide a safe walking and driving experience for the many community members and visitors that travel that roadway.” They also thanked Rep. Simpson for his efforts in securing funding for the Fort Hall Fire Station, acknowledging it as a crucial need for the safety of the community.
The funding will be utilized to reconstruct a 0.5-mile stretch of Eagle Road between Ross Fork Road and Agency Road on the Fort Hall Reservation. The project aims to create wider lanes, designated bike lanes, sidewalks, curbs and gutters with storm drains, bus stop shelters, and designated crosswalks. Additionally, the funding will be used to develop streetscapes and continuous sidewalks to enhance access, livability, and safety for residents and visitors.
As Idaho’s only appropriator, Rep. Simpson's support for the Fort Hall Eagle Road Reconstruction Project demonstrates his commitment to advocating for Idaho's priorities and ensuring that tax dollars benefit Idahoans. Rep. Simpson stood out as the sole member of the Idaho delegation to vote in favor of funding for this crucial project.
