U.S. Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Mike Crapo, representing Idaho, has expressed his views following a meeting with Scott Bessent. Bessent is President-elect Donald Trump’s nominee for the position of Secretary of the U.S. Department of the Treasury.
Crapo highlighted the significance of the Treasury Secretary's role in maintaining and advancing the tax policies initiated during Trump's administration. "The Treasury Secretary will play a pivotal role in preserving the Trump tax cuts and shaping additional policy to reignite the economy," Crapo stated.
He emphasized Bessent's qualifications by noting, "Scott’s an accomplished business leader who understands the importance of preserving and building on the pro-growth tax policies that have spurred job creation, led to higher wages and allowed taxpayers to keep more of what they earn."
Crapo also mentioned his intention to work with fellow senators to expedite Bessent's confirmation process: "I look forward to working with my colleagues to ensure he is confirmed as quickly as possible."
