U.S. Senator Mike Crapo from Idaho has issued a statement following President Trump's Joint Address to Congress. The statement focuses on the accomplishments of the Trump Administration and its future agenda.

Senator Crapo noted, "Tonight, President Trump detailed his early accomplishments and outlined an ambitious agenda." He highlighted the administration's efforts in securing the homeland, re-establishing American strength, unleashing energy resources, and addressing federal government size and scope transparently.

One of the key priorities for both President Trump and Senator Crapo is preventing a significant tax increase by extending the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017. "If this popular tax law expires at the end of this year," Crapo stated, "average American families will be hit with thousands of dollars in tax increases."

He emphasized that Idahoans could face an average tax increase of $2,554 in 2026 if the law is not extended. The expiration would predominantly affect those earning less than $400,000 annually.

Crapo expressed his commitment to making these tax cuts permanent: "The President has been clear--we must permanently extend the Trump Tax Cuts and prevent a massive tax hike on American workers, families and small businesses."

He also mentioned that Americans benefited from economic growth following the 2017 tax cuts. "Americans across the board benefited from a roaring economy," he said. This included increased household incomes, low unemployment rates, and significant wage growth for lower-earning workers.

Senator Crapo concluded by stressing his dedication to working with government leaders to ensure these tax policies are made permanent: "Failure to extend the Trump tax cuts is simply not an option."
