U.S. Senate Finance Committee Chairman Mike Crapo expressed his support for President Donald Trump's vision of economic opportunity following the President's Joint Address to Congress. Crapo, a Republican from Idaho, praised the early accomplishments of the Trump administration and its agenda.

"Tonight, President Trump detailed his early accomplishments and outlined an ambitious agenda," said Crapo. He emphasized the administration's efforts in securing the homeland, re-establishing American strength, and addressing government size with transparency.

Crapo highlighted one of President Trump's priorities: preventing a potential $4 trillion tax hike by extending the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act from 2017. "If President Trump’s tax cuts are not renewed before the end of this year, average American families will be hit with thousands of dollars in tax increases," he warned. He noted that Idahoans could face an average increase of $2,554 in taxes by 2026 if these cuts expire.

The Senator underscored the benefits seen across demographics due to the 2017 tax cuts, such as increased household incomes and low unemployment rates. "Extending this current, proven tax policy--and building upon it--is the best way to restore economic prosperity," he stated.

Crapo concluded by committing to work with congressional leadership to make these tax cuts permanent for American families and businesses.
