The U.S. Senate Finance Committee has advanced Frank Bisignano's nomination to become the Commissioner of the Social Security Administration (SSA). The decision was made following a narrow vote of 14-13.

Senate Finance Committee Chairman Mike Crapo (R-Idaho) expressed his support for Bisignano, saying, "Mr. Bisignano has more than 30 years of strong, executive leadership experience and knows how to enact his bold vision of delivering better customer service for Social Security beneficiaries. I look forward to his confirmation by the full Senate and working with him as Commissioner."

The nomination now moves forward to the full Senate for confirmation. Details from the executive session are available, as well as Chairman Crapo's statements during the nomination hearing and the executive session.
