U.S. Senators Mike Crapo, Jim Risch, and Cynthia Lummis, along with four other Senate Western Caucus members, have united in a call for President Joe Biden to withdraw Julie Su's nomination as Secretary of Labor. The senators allege that Su's actions as acting secretary have been detrimental to industries in the West.

Senator Crapo expressed his concerns, stating, "Julie Su’s nomination has been riddled with issues since day one. The Administration’s attacks under her leadership against industries critical to the West have been harmful to Idaho’s workforce in these industries. It’s past time to withdraw the nomination and nominate someone new."

Senator Risch also voiced his disapproval, saying, "Julie Su’s record at the Department of Labor suggests a significant bias against many industries important to Idaho, including mining and agriculture. The president must rescind her nomination and instead choose an appropriate nominee for the Secretary of Labor."

Senator Lummis added her perspective, highlighting the impact of Su's policies on small businesses in Wyoming and the wider western region. She stated, "Julie Su has done nothing but deliver one price hike after another for family-run businesses in Wyoming and throughout the west that are already struggling under the burden of record-high operating costs due to inflation and sky-high interest rates. We need a Secretary of Labor who understands the value small businesses bring to communities and embraces innovation instead of one-size fits all big government mandates. Julie Su has hurt the west, and it is time for her to go."

The joint letter to President Biden was also signed by Senators John Thune, Kevin Cramer, Steve Daines, and John Hoeven. The senators are urging the President to reconsider Su's nomination and select a candidate who they believe will better serve the interests of the industries and businesses in the West.
