Idaho's small businesses are receiving a boost this holiday season through the "Support Local Gems All Season Long" initiative. This program, announced by U.S. Senator Jim Risch and the Idaho Department of Commerce, marks its fourth year of encouraging local support.

Senator Risch emphasized the importance of small businesses to Idaho's economy, stating, "In Idaho, small businesses power the state’s economy, create local jobs, and provide the Gem State with irreplaceable value. The holiday season is often the most critical time of the year for these small businesses." He added that this initiative offers an opportunity for community members to help these enterprises thrive.

The campaign is a continuation of Risch's statewide "Support Local Gems" awareness effort. It encourages residents to shop at local businesses during the holiday season using #SupportLocalGems on social media. Starting November 25 and running through December, participants can engage by shopping in person or online at small businesses, purchasing gift cards, dining locally, or simply promoting their favorite shops.

Additionally, individuals can support without spending money by writing positive reviews online or expressing gratitude directly to business owners. A media toolkit for those interested in participating is available on Senator Risch’s website.
