U.S. Senator Mike Crapo of Idaho has concluded a series of meetings with the initial group of President-elect Donald Trump's Cabinet nominees. The discussions were part of the preparation for the upcoming Senate confirmation process.
"President Trump deserves to have a Cabinet he selects to help deliver on his conservative agenda," Crapo stated. "I have had productive conversations with several nominees and appreciate their willingness to meet with me and share their visions for America’s future. Each of these nominees will undergo the rigorous Senate confirmation process, and I look forward to further evaluating their qualifications so we can begin the important work before us."
Senator Crapo has met with Scott Bessent, nominee for Secretary of the U.S. Department of the Treasury; Robert F. Kennedy Jr., nominee for Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services; Scott Turner, nominee for Secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development; Elise Stefanik, nominee for Ambassador to the United Nations; Russell Vought, nominee for Director of the Office of Management and Budget; Jamieson Greer, nominee for U.S. Trade Representative; Howard Lutnick, nominee for Secretary of the U.S. Department of Commerce; and Pete Hegseth, nominee for Secretary of the U.S. Department of Defense.
As he prepares to become Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, Senator Crapo will play a key role in overseeing federal tax policy, social safety net programs, health care programs, and foreign trade agreements. He will also manage the confirmation process within these areas through his committee.
