U.S. Senator Jim Risch, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, has issued a statement regarding the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas. Risch acknowledged the involvement of President Trump's team in facilitating the ceasefire.

"This ceasefire is very welcome news, and I suspect it is no accident that it has finally come as a result of the involvement of President Trump’s team," said Risch. He expressed relief at the release of hostages held by Hamas, noting their return to families after over a year in captivity. However, he emphasized that not all American citizens have been returned.

Risch highlighted concerns about maintaining Israel's security under the new agreement and preventing Hamas from re-arming for future attacks. "After all, like its patron Iran, Hamas is not an honest broker, and has continually delayed, disrupted, and reneged on potential deals in the past," he stated.

He affirmed continued U.S. vigilance under President Trump's leadership to secure American hostages' release and maintain strong support for Israel.
